While much of the research presented on this website is a result of my work at the Ruhr University Bochum, I do in no way claim to speak for them or represent their views or positions.

I blog about my own academic research, which means that I try to follow best practices of responsible research and academic integrity. My goal is to present content that is factually accurate, complete and up-to-date. Of course, I cannot guarantee that this will always be the case. If you find content that does not meet those criteria, please let me know.

I can only be held responsible for my own content on this website, not for content created by others (e.g. in comments), cited or linked to on this website. At the time of linking, citing or publishing, no legal violations were known to me; as soon as I learn of any such violation, I will react accordingly.

Data protection and privacy

For this website, I try to make an effort in order to keep personal data collection to a minimum. You can read my blog without entering any personal information. No web analysis, visitor tracking, social networking or advertisement tools are used. Outside of what is necessary to run the WordPress blog, no data is collected. And unless legally required, none of that data will be given to third parties.

I support the idea to encrypt the web – which is why all web traffic to my blog is redirected to make use of SSL. However, please be aware that data transfer is never completely secure against third party access. And while I always try to keep this website as safe and up-to-date as possible, I cannot guarantee that the blog will not get compromised at some point. As always on the web, please be skeptical.

Use of cookies

Due to the nature of how WordPress works, in some situations, cookies are used to store information on your computer that could make you identifiable. As mentioned above, however, no tracking of visitors takes place.

As a pure reader of this blog, you should never receive a cookie from this website.

If you use the commenting function, you may opt-in to store some of the information you previously entered (name, email address and website) in cookies on your own computer. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year and will be used only for this purpose; if you want to have that information deleted later on, you can do so yourself by deleting the cookie through your browser.

If you login to the website as an author, so-called session cookies are used to verify that you are logged in. And no, sorry, unless I come to you and ask you, you cannot become an author on this blog, so this doesn’t affect you, anyway.

Commenting

You have the opportunity to comment on blogged posts. Your comments and the information you provide in the process will be stored and (with the exception of your email-address) be made public. Please be aware of that; by using the comment function, you give consent to this. If you wish to revoke this consent, let me know and I will delete the relevant comment.

Please also be aware that your IP address and browser user agent string will automatically be stored if you comment.
